I am hosting a onion site for personal, but not so legal purposes, and i would like to know some tips on how to make it extra secure and untraceable. While tor is quite anonymous, the problem is that if some government really wants to trace your server down, they can.

For example, ISPs can monitor network traffic, including tor traffic. And since servers (and users) have to use an ISP to connect to the internet, they can also be monitored. While the tor traffic remains anonymous, the server uptime doesn't.

If the server disconnects from the tor network (which the ISP can see), and at the same time the onion service also goes down, they can easily trace it using this method.

And since i am not using a datacenter for hosting illegal stuff for obvious reasons, my uptime won't be consistent at all, hence the server can be traced back to me and the feds will ***** my ass.

So, the question is, how can i make my tor server not vulnerable to this and possibly other government methods of tracing?

Yeah and also, if nobody on here can answer this, are there any better forums for such questions?

Thanks

I think complete privacy is impossible.
You can set traps and protections, you can confuse and cover up traces. But only experienced hackers are capable of such actions.
But every hacker can be caught by a better hacker.
So anyone can be found.

Like DipMan said above me, there's no good way to stay completely anonymous. My best tips would be

1. Don't run your service locally, buy a VPS with BTC and if you need an email use something like protonmail

2. Practice good Op-sec (operational security), this one is important and bad op-sec is what leads to most getting caught. Mental Outlaw on YouTube has a good video about this (watch through Tor if you really think it matters).

That's about it, there's a lot you could do a long with these but this is like the basic stuff to not get caught.
