storage with auto deleting capabilities?

Im looking for a way to store information under lock and key on either a usb or external hard drive. Im relitively new but want to learn. what i want is a way for it to auto wipe should anyone other than me tamper with it. Could someone explain how to do this is in an easy to understand way?

I would recommend to have a bootable usb stick for linux kodachi or linux tails. They are easy to understand and they erase everything once you turn off the computer.
